Department Chair
Oluwaseun Johnson-Akeju, MD, MMSc
Dr. Johnson-Akeju is the anesthetist-in-chief at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He completed his undergraduate degree in biology at the New Jersey Institute of Technology and his medical degree at the New Jersey Medical School. This was followed by residency training in anesthesiology at the Massachusetts General Hospital, post-doctoral research training at Harvard University, and a faculty position at the Massachusetts General Hospital. His stated mission for our department is to ensure that we provide the highest standards of clinical care to all patients through outstanding programs in education and research; ensure that everyone is treated with respect and dignity; and, create a resource-rich environment that attracts future leaders in anesthesia, medicine, and science.
